"Discover Peter before he met Wendy. Who was Hook before he became captain? Discover the magic of Neverland as Syfy explores the origin of a legend, in this two-night event. Opens in December 2011."Neverland on Scifi-Channel US. This sounds interesting and I really hope I somehow, someday get to view it. I think I'll try to get the US Scifi-Channel...depending on how much it would cost...Because I highly doubt this prequel either actually cares about the canon much...But I would like to see this anyway, as it seems entertaining and interesting. So, above all I really wish someone, someday, would film the actual prequel that is the novel Peter Pan in Kengsinton Gardens. And this clearly is nothing about that... What intrigues me the most in that Scifi Channel prequel, is the question of what they made of Hook's past. Mr. Barrie made it come off as a scandalious matter, so much so that he wouldn't tell us who he was. Man, I hope this new prequel appreciated that. x)

Yeah I'm def. gonna be checking this movie out when it aires on The Sci-Fi Channel in Dec. But I have to say I'm not really impressed that they went and literally threw out Peter's entire back story. I mean I guess I'll be all right with it for the most part if they can manage to link it up to the Barrie novel, but still its not the real origin story of Peter Pan.

I know this is done as a prequel to Barrie, and while the time line doesn't match up I mark that off to artistic license. All in all I thought the movie was awesome. Great effect, and ( heresy follows) I actually found the orb scenario a bit more plausible than the Kensington Gardens/rescued by faeries avenue.
No, it's not the same Peter Barrie wrote of, and I still dislike him (I have a long-standing bias against Peter), but then this is a different take on the story, much like "The Child Thief". Rhys Ifans made a perfectly dangerous Hook, quite the scoundrel, but somehow it seems he's being punished unjustly for his duel with Peter's father, the circumstances of which we no nothing about. He comes off a little more 'human'. Wish that had been filled in, but oh well.
I did think it would have played better had Peter's memory (or most of it) remain stripped, leaving him with only his "innocent heart" (gag, choke). Innocent , huh. I don't think so Tim, but I tend to look at things from a different angle than most.
It really is a good prequel if you can get past the missteps in timing(1906) and one I plan on keeping and watching again. It would be nice if they released a directors cut or something like that on DVD/blue-ray. I wouldn't mind a part three, though how they'll mesh this with the "Peter Pan" story would be quite a trick - one I wouldn't mind seeing one bit.

Oh, yay!! It's released on DVD as a movie! Yeah, I know it's not all that great adaptation and is rubbish as a prequel, but I wanna see it and now I can without having to arrange an entire tv-channel!

I thought it was okay. I rented the DVD. I was surprised by some of the takes on the story, both good and bad. My biggest disappointment was Tigerlily. The actress was beautiful, but the character must've been more fiesty to me. I mean, she is a warrior princess. Peter Pan should've been more cocky aswell. For a moment I thought: "Yes, there he is!", but then he went all goody-goody again. Yet I am tempted to buy it, you know, for collector's reasons

By the way, people, if you write to this specific topic, please try not to spoil too much. None of you have, so no worries, but just saying this for the future posters. If you go into great details or reveal something crucial, rather start your own review topic.
