"Walt Disney Co's theater division, which has enjoyed big success with productions like "The Lion King," has commissioned its first original Broadway show, a prequel to "Peter Pan," producers said on Wednesday.
The musical, entitled "Peter and the Starcatcher" and based on Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson's novel of the same name, is expected to open in spring 2012 at a Broadway theater, Disney Theatrical Productions said."Read more here. I haven't read that fan novel in question but I'm thinking anything's got to be better than the Disney cartoon from 1953...Which is why I might even be interested in this play production...Although as it's Disney touching it, it likely does not matter if the novel is good. But I'll tell you again after I've read the novel some day. If I will...As I've never been into the novel side of this fandom apart from the canon novels and non-profit fanfiction on FanFiction.Net. What do you think of this upcoming Disney production? Any hopes or fears?

I've never read Peter and the StarCatchers, but I've heard a lot about it and if your a hard core fan of Peter Pan, then this might be something you'll want to skip. Let me give you the just of it.
Hook is a dirty, filthy pirate with bad teeth. Peter doesn't refuse to grow up, but rather can't grow up due to over exposure to star dust. Tinkerbell was created from a fish Mermaids are mutants Peter falls in love with a girl named Molly Peter romantic rival for Molly's affection is a young lad named George Darling And last but not least Molly grows up marries George and goes by her nickname Mary
This doesn't all happen in the same story, there's a total of three and their all suppose to link up to Peter Pan. Never mind the massive changes in the back story and to the characters of both Peter and Hook. Not to mention now when we think Peter/Wendy we know Peter really wants Wendy's mother.

Tinkerbell was created from a fish Behold the logic. Someone's tried too hard to be original, I think. That's genuinely scary. Peter falls in love with a girl named Molly WENDY! Damnit! I don't care what distorted version of the original it is, it's got to be Wendy! Peter romantic rival for Molly's affection is a young lad named George Darling I take it back. In this case it should not be Wendy. Even if that G.D. wasn't the same. The name would be enough to disturb. And last but not least Molly grows up marries George and goes by her nickname Mary[/quore] I forgot this was a prequel. So Peter fell in love with Wendy's mother. That's...I don't even know. This doesn't all happen in the same story, there's a total of three and their all suppose to link up to Peter Pan. Never mind the massive changes in the back story and to the characters of both Peter and Hook. Not to mention now when we think Peter/Wendy we know Peter really wants Wendy's mother. I don't get it. Why's these kind of stuff published as prequels and why os Hook called a sequel? It's impossible when core elements totally contradict the canon! Gees! So yeah...Thanks for the heads up. I will not waste my time on that book. And now I actually think Disney could make it better...And that's saying a lot when regarding what they did to the actual Peter Pan...I think Disney's at its best when it doesn't touch other people's stories but makes original stuff like The Lion King, Brother Bear and Fox and the Hound. (I know The Lion King has Hamlet in it and some Biblical stories but they didn't mean to, it just happened as in was kind of a subconscious inspiration.)
