Hey everyone I'm Javier you know me best as Javierocker from IMDB and I finally managed to join this forum. Anyway a little about myself, well I'm 29 and I hail from Brooklyn, NY. I've been a Peter Pan fan since I was about 6 years old, thanks to Disney. I had Peter Pan books, puzzles and other such things when I was a little kid.
I eventually got older and grew out of the character, I was really into Hook for a time when I was 9 years old. I had a couple of action figures, Pan's battle sword, posters and even played the Hook arcade game. Who actually remembers all the Hook merchandising that went on when the movie came out? It's still the only Peter Pan movie I've seen to produce both action figures and an arcade beat em up.
I finally got into Peter Pan as an adult thanks to the 2003 movie. I first saw it when I took my little sister to see it back when I was in college. I liked the movie when I saw it, but it just came and went at the time, my sister bought the movie on DVD and being bored one late December night in 2008 I decided to see it again. Don't ask me what clicked for me this time, that didn't click as much when I was 21 but it clicked.
I was really into the chemistry between the Jeremy Sumptor and Rachel Hurd-Wood, to the point where I wanted Peter to actually grow up. I couldn't get what was holding his character back and the movie never did anything to explain it, despite dropping a million hints that something had happened. So I finally turned to the Internet and other Peter Pan resources where I found out about Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens and of course the original Peter Pan novel.
I finally got my copy of the novel and read it twice and I also managed to read Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens through an on line library. And man did I love it much better then I did any of the movie versions, as someone who loves his action the novel did not disappoint. I also got to fully know Peter as a character and I def. bought his tragic side to life a lot more then any of the adaptations of the characters did.
I finally decided to start writing some stories of my own under the name Elgrandloco82, you can still find my stories on fanfiction.net. Though I only managed to finish two of them, mostly because I'm more of an action fan and enjoy exploring Peter psyche (its what got me into the story as an adult). But I like adding a touch of romance and I pretty much got jumped on non stop because I didn't add enough romance to my stories (including the two I did finish). Well its time consuming and if I can't enjoy it and get positive feed back from it, then I'd rather not do it. I can't do something, or do it well if I don't or lose my passion for it.
Though it does slip back into my mind to maybe go back and finish the last story I was writing, I was just two chapters shy of finishing it. I haven't updated it or written anything in a little over two years.
So that's pretty much me and Peter Pan in a nutshell, I'm happy to finally be here and some looking forward to some good discussions.
